Just wondering how those with radar detectors have mounted them to their beemers.i have a valentine 1 and an RT1150, Spent ages on various websites but end up confused(as i often do).there must be a simple no,8 wire approach!

Definitely! You don't have to go as far as the guy below, but perhaps a small shelf from a bent piece of steel attached to the top of the dash, and a bit of self-adhesive velcro would do the trick.Get ready for others to chime in with their double-swivel-ended-universal-ball-mounts with 720 degree rotation, which can be adjusted for the altitude and azimuth of the vernal equinox.  They have no imagination!  On my K12R I velcroed the thing to the front brake reservoir.  Easy on and off, and it worked brilliantly for two years.  Unfortunately, I don't think your brake/clutch reservoirs are quite level with the ground like mine was, so the dashboard shelf will probably do the trick.Good luck!DTYbmr_right.jpg

You are rough.  🙄 Some take the time to get fittings correct. 😛

Nothing incorrect about any of the fittings, just thought I would get points for the DIY approach.

My first one for the 1150GS was a bit of bent plastic velcroed on to the bars, but I went a bit flash on the 1200 and made a nice aluminium one.To expensive to buy these made to measure ones.  🙂If you have a tank bag just bung it in there as some of the guys do, works just as well and hidden from view too.

I have a shelf on my R1100RT which came from http://www.bmrproducts.com/index.php.  It fits well and took 10 minutes to install.  I mount my detector on that.Cheers

I made a bracket and the detector is fitted inside the fairing on my 1150RS and then wired into my intercom.  This way the detector is hidden and out of the weather so it can remain in place.  The power is taken from the lights and as their isn't much room on the RS the unit is mounted on it's side (Escort) and it works perfectly front and rear.  Just make sure there is no metal obstructing its view.
