This is a Register Ride and we will meet at BP Papakura for a 9.30am departure. We can decide on a restaurant on the day.
Should that not be March 15th Alex ?
Yep, well spotted. So people do read these things?

The 1150 is at the Experience hospital for a check up. It's a bit wheezy on one of its lungs, compression is down to 8.5 on the left cylinder, compared to 12 on the right. This would explain the pinging and the mediocre performance. It also sounds very expensive, in fact Henry pointed out that the last time this happened I bought a new bike. the vultures are circling :-).In other words, pace will not be an issue.I am very much committed to this bike and intend to keep it, even though I've kept wringing its neck and flogging the rent out of it. One theory is that the cat has died and has affected the left cylinder. Or maybe the pinging has just stuffed the cylinder. Or I was just too dumb to adjust the valves properly. However, if this was the case you'll never hear of it from me :-).If it's not fixed by the 15th I'll let someone else lead the ride.
Theres a motor and box on trade me for sale cheap or a remus system for a 1100 gs if it will fit.
I was at Experience today while they took the head and barrel off. Apart from quite a bit of carbon build up on the piston, there was nothing to see. Nil wear in the bore, not even a little ledge, honing marks all present. No sign of blow by, piston skirts were immaculate, con-rod bearing showed no sign of wear. So it's a bit of a mystery. Maybe the initial compression test was off. The pinging is probably due to the carbon build up and should be gone after a good clean. The cat has a slight rattle, so I might take the opportunity to ditch it.
could be the recession. they got a gammy gauge or did not hold properly. u now get a $300 bill. 👿

This will cost more than $300. They did say that the test was done twice. We'll see, but I really want my bike to be running 100%. I was amazed at the lack of wear after 100000km.
Well, instead of running much better, my bike is now not running at all. This means I will be riding the R80GS on Sunday. Someone else can volunteer to lead the ride. It's a good opportunity to get the last bit of life out of the knobblies, but not much more, so I'll just trundle along. While they were working on the bike I had the cat gutted. Al's mufflers in Target road did a great job. They sure know how to weld. Now all I need is to hear it running again. I sure hope it's only a stupid little mistake that can be easily corrected. But they are already talking about removing the head again. Well, it's Friday the 13th, things can go wrong!
