Hmm, my bad, hopelessly ambitious to try a metro group ride on a Sunday afternoon in Dorkland any more, sorry punters. We have gotten away with it recently in the morning, but after lunch it all goes to custard.BUT!! We had a very social couple of hours until we gave it away at Mission Bay, when it had just become Mission Impossible. Had a lot of laughs, Roz got to throw her leg across AGD's GSX650F, and I think, Richard, the message is, "Be afraid, be very afraid!" (They are a helluva lot cheaper than a Beemer, but.)Rob W has come up with a couple of great ideas for future runs: if ever the branch has to respond to a new pattern of governance if the Register morphs itself in the future, Rob is putting himself right in the frame for the "Social Committee" (along with Maria?)Auckland turned on a cracker afternoon until the traffic beat us: crystal clear out to Manukau Heads and across to Coromandel from No Tree Hill, pristine from Mount Wellington, but choked with cages on the waterfront. We learnt some really interesting stuff over coffee at EastRidge: anyone wants to take up Morris Dancing, talk to Malcolm (hur, hur.) (Bring your own ribbons and bells.)I wound up with the hardcore after-match functionaries at my place, which put me in the position of doing a "loaves and fishes" act with a two person pork roast to feed six. I over-compensated, and by the time they had ploughed through a bowl of pumpkin soup and croutons, and chicken curry and rice, no one had room for pork roast or chocolate self-saucing pudding, so I will only have to reheat to feed self and the Librarian tomorrow. My thanks to all the faithful followers: you did really well keeping together through the traffic until my stressometer went critical and I flagged the day.Just park it anywhere, we take precedence over cages.Red Baron trying to marshall parking: "Good luck, cuz!"AGD, Suzuki Klingon, having a Her Majesty moment "My Husband and I..................."

A slightly different set of skills required today compared to the normal outings, however important skills all the same and a great bunch of people to share an enjoyable afternoon with. Did anyone else notice, even when the going gets tough in the concrete jungle, Bwucie still manages to find a large piece of chocolate cake somewhere. I thought you did a great job with those shopping trolleys too 🙂

We all got to sing the Hills are alive from One Tree Hill and Mt Welliewood – and took in breathtaking views of the greater Auckland metropolis on a beaut day. There was a lot of good banter and humour from the group of 15 bikes and we all managed to stick together no mean feat on a fine day when everyone in Auckland seems to come out to play! I even spotted an infamous Beemer identity soliciting on a street corner. I asked Henry if he was buying or selling!Stick together we did until we got to Mission Bay - where some of Bwucie's possie went to Eastridge Mall to get away from the crowds and get some decent parking. Followed some time later by the rest of us. The sun was still high in the sky so some of the hardened crew decided to take the long way home via Whitford to an after match function at Chez Crowther. As usual Bruce outdid himself with the flying wok routine washed down with a couple of beers. In my book a great way to end a ride and to kick start us into the new working week. A big ups to Jean & Bruce for welcoming us into their home and cooking a great feed for the hardened few.Cheers Frau Baron

Bwucie congratulated us all for staying together in the big smoke, but I put the perfomance of us old Dudes down to just good behaviour. I was solo on this ride but will have my good lady Kerrie with on the next ride. Hopefully her neck will be a lot better and she is up to a bit of wind in the hair, thanks all and until next time, see you then.Cheers Graham
