did i miss something while out riding? did i say i hate yappy small dogs or big growling ones. i'm a lazy two legged dog. nothing worth pissing on, but “just walk away” appeals. something bigger than pride or ego involved? get on yer bike! i'm going back out for a ride!

AnonymousGuest13/06/2013 at 10:52 pmPost count: 2134That is a perfectly understandable reaction: but it is also like people who moan about their government, either local or central, and then when you quiz them you find out they don't vote.We are all individuals, so we all have individual opinions, which are sometimes subject to hot debate or discussion from other individuals. Ants and bees and beavers can live harmoniously in social communities, I'm guessing that's in part because they don't have a helluva lot of individual opinions. Most humans choose to live in societies, semi-cooperatively, but that means we sometimes have to shout and posture to establish where our correct position is in that society.
If you don't shout and posture (i.e. participate), then you risk being pushed to the edges, or slotted into a subservient position. This is a difficult situation for bikers: every such critter appears to think they are The Alpha Male (I'm not sure that excludes some of the women, either!) (C'mon girls, flame me. :P) I don't think there is a lot of bad comes out of chest beating. At least when we members of the Register do so we still know we are members of our "tribe", not individuals outside the group. When circumstances outside our tribe threaten us (ACC, Land Transport, parking wardens - "Hi Richard!") we can group together to form a united front. "Belonging" is a good thing, sometimes: the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.

I think I am getting a whiff of JAFA syndrome.

Dear Slack, please do me a favour and explain precisely what this syndrome is.
I think I am getting a whiff of JAFA syndrome.
just what does this acronym JAFA stand for. I always called them JAFFA's. Maybe we in Hamilton are a little more educated and can spell. ::)
AnonymousGuest15/06/2013 at 12:17 amPost count: 2134Jaffa = just another ******* forecourt attendant. An old expression, as only Z has them (sometimes during the day) any more.Jafa = Just another ******* Aucklander. You clear on that now, Steve?
