If anyone is interested I’m doing (weather permitting) one of my favourite local loops (I live in National Park) on Saturday the 26th of Feb. Start/Finish is in Taumarunui and the route heads in a clockwise direction taking in the back roads to Ongarue on to Benneydale and Pureora then through the Pureora Forest Park via Link Rd to the Eastern Bays Rd round Lake Taupo as far as Kuratau Junction then SH 41 to Manunui then back to Taumarunui. All up it’s around 300ks of uncongested riding with about 30-40ks of gravel road. This route is two-up friendly. There are not many options for fuel on this route other than Taumarunui and Manunui. There are a couple of nice spots for a picnic lunch in the Pureora Forest so bring so your own provisions.I will keep and eye on the weather and confirm the ride is going ahead by 8pm on Thursday the 24th.Gathering place will be at the new McDonalds in Taumarunui at 9.50am with departure at 10amIf you are keen or need more info I can be contacted at napwood@gmail.comCheers Neil
Thanks for the support Tibsy. If the weather is dodgy I will postpone so keep an eye out, you never know your luck! Also I like to go riding a fair bit and I'm planning other circuits within the Central Plateau and it would be great if you can make one.CheersNeil
Hi All,The weather is looking okay for Saturday with the possibility of some showers in the afternoon so the ride is going ahead. There will be at least 2 of us and we welcome anyone else who is keen. I figure that we will be back in Taumarunui by 2.30pm.CheersNeil
