Am I alone in blowing so many headlight bulbs? My R1200GS is only a year old (albeit with 42,500 kms) and seems to go through a lot of low-beam headlight bulbs. I have now replaced five bulbs, which at 23-26 dollars a pop is quite expensive. Is this an issue with this model? Any advice or comment would be appreciated.Cheers,Kennif
I am on my second one after 140000km, but it's an 1150. Blowing so many bulbs can't be right.

I have had two bulbs blow on my 2006 1200GS after 64,000km and I thought that was excessive

The clip is supposed to sit in a groove and be held in place by a phillips head bolt. Twice now that clip has come out. This means some major surgery to get it back in, especially as I have a Touratech cover with 12v outlets around the instrument cluster.I have just come in to have a quiet cup of tea......... 😛

I had 3 or 4 headlight bulbs blow on my 2004 R1200GS, in about 4 years and 60,000km. Today the low beam bulb blew in the F650GS. The first one in 30,000km.Some blame the switching currents from the CANbus controller for blown bulbs, as it seems to be much more common on CANbus-equipped BMWs than on their older bikes.
The HP2 blows front bulbs like clockwork, every 6 months almost to the day ??? I buy double packs, keep a spare wrapped up in the tool kit and can live with $90 per annum. The tail light use to blow all the time as well, but since I've fitted the LED tail piece I've not had a problem since. Most likely is an issue related to the CanBus system, but hard to say when the majority of riding is on rough terrain, but I never used to blow bulbs on the Dakar. An LED headlight would do the trick, I'm just waiting 😉

Kaiwaka Suzuki did not have one but they contacted a autosparkie who works from home. Bill the sparkie meet us at his gate on SH1 a few ks further along. Fifteen bucks later the Hella H7 was installed. Thats 20,000km of karma
Get Your H7 bulbs from a car parts wholesaler like Brake&transmisson they are a lot cheaper.Standard Hella bulbs seem to last longer than some of the plus50 or plus80 type bulbs.I put a 100 watt H7 bulb into the GT and it seems to be working fine ,not sure about puting one in the GS with its smaller headlamp?
