It finally came!I took advantage of the awesome exchange rate and bought the new camera from the US, only $US299.  This is a short clip I took today up on Woodcocks Rd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jSFBGyq6sM (don't forget to click "HD")That video was shot in 1280 x 720 (720p), but it will also shoot in full HD 1080p, but for Youtube it doesn't make a difference.DTY

I've used a self-adhesive mount stuck to the front of the helmet.  There are so many options, you can mount it virtually anywhere.  I got this idea from a guy on a mountain bike forum.  The adhesive is REALLY STRONG.  I have also seen a guy at the track mount his on top of his helmet, but lower gives a more accurate representation of speed.The camera itself isn't waterproof or shockproof.  It goes in a hard plastic shell, which clamps really tight and which you screw to the various mounting plates/arms.

Very fly mounting option, Dave, and it gives great credence to Peggy O'Neill's tip I overheard at a BRONZ Ride Right, Ride Safe course (I pinch people's GOOD ideas outrageously, if I think they will help keep other folk alive). Peggy's tip? Imagine you have a crayon or a stick of chalk mounted on your chin, and use it to draw a line on the road where you want your bike to go. This will force your head to put itself in the right position to cause you to “go where you are looking”. Simple, and it works.So, take a rider who knows what he's doing, DTY for example, and mount his camera where Peggy's chalk would go, and you get some spectangular video.Now, if it had been me, there would have been shots of cows grazing, a cocky tedding his hay, an ornamental letterbox, an unusual cloud formation, and if I had leant over just right, a shot of me looking like an incredibly fast boy racer on the R-eleven-hundy-ess reflected in the mirror. The camera can lie. Great quality video, Dave, must look amazing on the TV before YouTube resize the file. D'ya wanna lend ya camera to a canoe surfer? 😀

Interesting that you got it. I ordered one about two months ago, before I went riding in North Thailand a couple of weeks ago. The US stuffed up and it was never able to be delivered in time, so I canned it. This was a pity because we rode some seriously interesting parts which would have benefitted from being filmed by moi on a new HD camera. Mind you the new Series 6 helmet was fantastic: comfortable, cool, the internal visor very useful. Ah, well there y'go. Cheers Loins ps who is picking up his new 2005 F650 GS tomorrow morning!! Mint!pss I felt safer riding a 250cc Honda Phantom cruiser in Thailand for 3,800 ks than I did last Friday riding 430 ks on the big bike through the Far North. NZ drivers really do not  give a ***(Tiger Woods)** about bikes do they? It pays never to forget that.

I can not see my self having this camera attached like yours on a trail ride. I'll have a look at the side mounted tube camera. I wise we had these types of cameras back when i was coaching sport.

Did anyone else think I was destined to fail if I told Dean where I mount my camera?  Why did I not see this!Anyway Dean, you can mount it wherever you like.  Lots of folks who probably crash even more often than you mount it to the top of their helmets, or on the side.They even have a mount for motorcyclists who don't ride their motorbike (maybe for DaveThePom?)
