Like many Formula One stars that live their lives in the spotlight, Heidfeld craves the anonymity, escapism and sheer pleasure that comes from putting on a safety helmet and riding a motorcycle. And as befits someone whose job requires so much time at full throttle, Heidfeld has recently chosen one of BMW Motorrad's highest revving and most powerful production motorcycles as his 'company' bike. The 30-year-old German driver, who currently lives in Stafa, Switzerland, was presented with his BMW K1200 S by head of BMW Motorrad Switzerland's motorcycle department, Tom Petertil, during a short handover ceremony. Currently fifth in the 2007 F1 driver standings, Heidfeld - who has owned a BMW R 1200 GS for the past 12 months - could well have been a motorcycle racer rather than a top Formula One driver, as he started out competing in motocross races at just five-years-old. However, following a bad accident that damaged the muscles and ligaments in his leg, he turned to racing karts. The rest, as they say, is history. 😀Living in proximity to some of the best riding roads and mountain passes in the Alps, Heidfeld will soon be able to discover the excellent handling and road-holding capabilities of the 167 hp BMW K1200 S. 😮 😮BMW Motorrad's masterpiece of engineering combines the best in technology, performance and design to deliver a uniquely impressive experience on the road or racetrack. The innovative and powerful two-wheeler is a challenge for every motorcycle enthusiast. 😎
