Hello all, Long time no talk so to speak….Ive been a busy boy what with travel to Oz and NZ a couple of times, plus my most recent adventure with my son to England and The Isle of Man for the 2014 Michael Dunlop TT as its now described......We rented a R1200 GS [2013] and a 2014 RT . It was the tourer that is the subject of the recall......Anyhoo, we spent a week in England and Wales blitzing the back roads and then went on to the Island and had an absolute blast - particularly running the Mountain Course at sunup every morning. This was my sons first big trip and first experience rising on the 'right/wrong' side of the road but he did really well only making a mistake in a parking lot at the Sammy Miller Museum. We also did the Morgan factory tour, beautiful experience and Ive ordered my Moggie, just dont tell my wife.....We met M Dunlop and he signed my 2012 TT book that I wrote about my last trip, and we helped the Island economy along immensely, also met Cam Donald, Bruce McGuinness, Steve Plater, Steve Parrish and many other stars...and had a fabulous time....That BMW was a rocket- Dunlop had 20 HP on everything else, and gonads the size of a rodeo bull....What an incredible experience and one that I cant wait to repeat. The 2014 RT left me wanting more...the box is still terribly clunky, power is smooth and linear and comfort was first class, but when I got back to Edmonton and rode my sons R1100S, I decided that BMW has gone too far with their big twins...the R1100S is perfect. I wont be buying a 2014 anything.....Great trip, especially the blast through western England and Wales and The Lake District, and The Island of course. I had one incredible run over the Mountain behind a local copper and that made the trip for me - that one perfect 120 mph run with a local guide giving me braking points and an 'escort' so to speak.Al GillThe Oz Slider
