Dick-of-the-Day again today. Haven't used my scooter since I changed all the vehicle clocks for Daylight Savings, without using any handbooks, clever me. Got on the motorway this morning, and was winding up through 75 and thinking about another gear – according to the earcrometer – just cruising off to work, as you do. Noticed the motorway was running REALLY slow, because I was passing everything, and when I went to shift into top gear, nothing happened, so I figured I'd better have another look at the dash. Yup, in 6th already, now passing 80 mph and burning fuel in US gallons per mile.Oops.Clock was on the right time, but. (Even still was after I spent ten minutes fiddling with buttons after I got to work getting back into metric units, via several swaps of US and Imperial. Too much technology for an old Luddite.)

Well as you're aware I thought that was a genuine Ooooops and warranted a prize. I certainly don't think some poor bugger falling off his bike and breaking his collar bone is really an ooooops rather a very unfortunate accident.  But Gerrard smiled graciously and accepted the prize, good one G.

I still have the bruise on my sit-upon from when the R1100S was destroyed in November: just as well I'd left by then, eh, or somebody mighta thought it warranted a display, if not a prize?
