Hmmm.. a bit of a sore neck from not only trying to duck a pigeon but also from the contact with the fat flying rat.Lucky I was slowing down to about 50kph when this happened. Will have a good look at the helmet soon to see if there is any damage.DUMB FLYING RATS!!!

Not the first time I have heard this story,my daughters boyfiend used to race a Ducati in the superstox series back in the UK and hit a Pigeon at 160 MPH on the Straight at brands Hatch…it hit hin striaght between the eyes on his visor and luckily the visor stayed in tact but it broke his nose and he lost sight in both eyes for three days while recovering in hostpital, the photos of the damage to his face were quite gruesome.Mind you he was never that good looking in the first place Ha haRegardsRince

not our native pigeon I hope. they are a protected species and a lot bigger than a rat. At 50kph straight  in the face a kereru would hurt your neck alright.

One of our Ulysses Club members was badly hurt on a club ride some years ago by a hawk. He was riding a muscle bike (ie no windscreen) with his daughter on the back, the hawk rose slowly from its road-kill lunch and hit him in the chest. The bike went down and both were seriously injured. I have been very cautious ever since!Ken
