What are the best/easiest options for standing a 250 dual purpose bike upright in the very limited space? Preferably something at the front wheel.

Hey, good score with the Sherpa. Jean will have great fun on that. What you're looking for is a Bike Grab.Pretty sure your local m/c shop could get one, otherwise you can order from http://www.oneup.com.au/CheersGarry

Have a look at any of the bike shops that sell dirt bike gear and they will have lift up stands that fit under the sump guard, I think my one cost about $150, some years ago though.

Ventura (Dold Industries in Hamilton) do one in a size to suit dirt bike front wheels. Almost any motorbike shop should be able to source one. See Ventura's web site for details.

I'm with JimI got one of the DRC lift stands with a hydraulic damper for $99 at Cycletreads (through Trademe).  There are a few advertised now around $129-139.  They are only good up to 150kg though.  Lucky the little 750 has a centrestand.DTY

Many thanks for all of your helpful replies guys.  Due to the very restricted and awkward access the drive in type holding the front wheel (Ventura/ Bike Grab) will I think be the best option and I've had a look at one currently on Trademe but unfortunately it is for a road bike and too small for my wheel.  Thanks againMalcolm
