Bike of the Year: K1200R
BMW’s K1200R has been named Motorcycle of the Year by US magazine Motorcyclist.
They say it had the most profound inpact on motorcycling in 2005.
This is the first prestigious award the 163 bhp naked bike has received.
“Give BMW credit for doing what Japan wouldn’t or couldn’t do: bolt serious horsepower into a big, comfortable naked bike. This German translation leaves its contemporaries looking relatively underdressed when it comes to technological accoutrements, said Motorcyclist.
The R1200 GS and R1200 RT also won the awards for Best Adventure and Best Touring Bike respectively. The GS is the current holder of the MCN award for Best Trailie.
This year’s Motor Cycle News awards will be announced at a prestige event at the National Motorcycle Museum in November
