Hi all.Does anyone have any up to date info on how strong the new F800's are proving to be?In particular anything about the new motor, or the belt drive, at this stage that ought to worry a prospective purchaser?Only prospective at this stage!Thoughts and info you might have would be appreciated.Dave T
I think the F800 will be a good bike, but only time will tell. The only thing to consider are the service costs. It would be worth asking how much they are.Cheers,Alex

Reliability is fine and no problems with the belt drive.Have a read of the following linkhttp://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/BMW/BMW-F800S-2006--current/?&R=EPI-136

The bikes have been a little jerky around 3000 rpm and there have been other driveline comments. As a result there is a new front pulley available for them and a washer needs replacing in the clutch assembly. The mods completely transform the bike, making it a very smooth bike, with a quiet box and unbelievably smooth gearchanges. My F800 has had the mods and is just brilliant to ride. If you jump on the forum you'll see those with the mod describe it as a different bike. Completely different, as in "is this my bike?!"This is a fun bike to ride.clutch mod info if you're interested.http://f800riders.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1044&whichpage=8hope this helps.

AnonymousInactive07/05/2007 at 3:54 amPost count: 286No problems. Enjoy the ride. I found I needed to do a couple of rides on the bike. I appreciated the bike more on the second ride for some reason. The speed is deceptive on the ST. You're usually going a lot quicker than you think.I understand there have been a few mods done so it should be a much better bike for it. I've still got a bit more vibration than I would like but other F800's I've riden don't seem to be as harsh in this area. I'm hoping to get this sorted.
AnonymousInactive13/05/2007 at 10:27 pmPost count: 7Picked my new ST up on Friday and got 600ks done over the weekend. Love it.Noticed a bad false neutral (meaning too frequent) between 5th and 6th. That common? Maybe it will settle as the gearbox gets more use. Also that big back tyre is rather sensitive to the back brake compared to my Dakar days. Learning to watch that..!Overall very pleased.
AnonymousInactive14/05/2007 at 3:01 amPost count: 286I had false neutrals once or twice in 8500 km's before the clutch mod and found I just needed to be a little firmer and it never happened again. I had them a lot more post the mod till I changed to synthetic oil and I think its gone because i don't remember it happening in the last few days. Post mod I think I did about two weeks riding before changing the oil last week. I had probably 10 false neutrals. The bike is quite a bit different after the first service. This is a neat bike to ride, handles and goes well.Good to hear you bought one.
