Yep, a little history is forgotten every time one of these houses disappears. I am already sorry that I have not taken high resolution shots in the past. I may have to do that now that I have a better camera. Thanks for posting what happens to these houses near the city.
This one on Wilson Road North may not be abandoned yet, but it must certainly be suffering from leaky building syndrome.
I've got two more. Both both are from near Taumarunui around the Opotiki Rd area.
One on Kaituna River Rd.
It even has a live-in manager.
I've just remembered that I had these 🙂 No live in managers though.
Ah, yes, but it's cheating slightly when two of them are the same as the ones in your previous post.
This one, the School of Mines, in Old Waitekauri Rd has “Local NZ history takes a hit…” painted on it. They could be right.
Here is a bunch I found on our recent ride to the SI. I've forgotten where the first one came from. The rest were from Akaroa, the stone one from near Oamaru and the last one from near Takaka. There were lots more I didn't photograph and lots more I didn't even see :-).
Pleased I can post this Alex, stone but very neglected and would I suspect have been impressive when in use. We think it was probably the old Catholiic School building at St. Bathans but could be wrong.
Here it is from another angle:
Cool. I can't go past these places without wondering who lived there, and why they were abandoned. Sometimes its just that a new place had been built, but often it looks like people just packed up and left.
An abandoned house on Rangiatea Rd.
It's been a while. So here's one from Old Maratoto Rd.
