After crashing the F800 the day before and working all night they made the start grid and managed to post a 7th with the chain drive F800.The R1200S did even better after crashing during the race and the rider running down the track to pick up the bike and ride it to the pits. They kicked it into shape and taped it up. The bike finished the race with no exhaust connected to the right cylinder, the forward subframe broken, the belly pan held on by 2 bolts (on the same side), the muffler standing vertical under the seat where the tyre hit it on every bump and wouldn't let the suspension compress, the handle bars were bent & the front & rear wheels were no longer in alignment. The photo's and story are on http://www.sjbmw.co.nz These would be interesting guys to talk with for modifying BMW's. They have a range of accessories and engine parts they provide. The chain drive for the F800 looked like an interesting option.
