Just Curious if any one has hotted up their 1100 SSome time ago I made a new air intake for the airbox, removed the catalytic converter and fitted an R1200S tail section. This gave a nice boost to power across the range and a noticeable boost in mid to top power along with crisper throttle response.I am contemplating a performance chip and Schrick Cams, has anyone been down this route.

More Power-More speed- More Infringement Tickets -More points. Have You herd there's 4 KPH  Max  tolerance over Dec/Jan period. Watch out the driveline are expensive to fix on those models,  So souping it up would only bring those costs on sooner. Put the money towards a  R1200S/ S1000RR/K1200S if You You need more power. Doing Cams would give more power in the upper rev range and less down low, not ideal for a road bike. Try a K&N or BMC air filter they work well and save the money.

Hi Richard, I am reasonably familiar with souping things up. What I can't find any where is some real hard facts on the likes of Schrick Cams which is what I am consideringAll I am looking for is a bit more top end as the 1100S feels a bit flat at the top, mainly to add finesse to the dynamic of the bike. The R1100  makes huge amounts of low to mid range torque so happy to sacrifice a little low down. The air intake mods make quite a difference to mid range response. If I was looking  to start a ticket collection I would go for an S1000RR

any info still knocking around about the original Boxer Cup support race series from beginning of millenium? they used modified R1100S as the standard. lots of “Boxer Cup Replicas” from circa 2009 for sale overseas.

Boxer cups were running pretty much standard engine with better suspension and exhaust, I have done the exhaust and it is a much better match. And I have fitted a full Ohlins set up which is sublimeSchrick do some cams which will give a lot more power across the range but I cannot find any specific data on performance increase . the attachment is from a  similar profile cam scale on the left is Hp , but that's a nice 7.4 kW gain and the drop off past the peak power at 7,500RPm is not as dramatic as stock BB Power also show a similar gain with hot cams. Having useable power fro 4,500 RPM to the red line suggest a more fun bike to ride??

Just fitted the front section of my new (self made) air intake which is  much bigger and shorter than the stock item, engine is now able to suck a LOT more fresh air and the response is significantly better.

Hi, the article in the link was really the catalyst for me to ask the question to see if the gains could be quantified. Still looking at the Schrick cams as an option, but will dyno the bike in the next few months so I know what the starting point is. I suspect that my current mods will work just fine with  cams and  BB Power chip. pic below shows the bike almost dressed, just waiting for the badge

Dude, now I know why you are doing all the mods. You should have bought a red one to start with, they are always faster.(Mine was Frost Blue, bog standard except for the cable on the airbox temp sensor, and slow. That wasn't BMW's fault, it was all down to the nut that held the handlebars. Still miss it, but.)

Bruce , my take is: “if you can tinker and tweak and gain performance it's cheaper than going out and buying a new flasher model”. P.S. the car is red and it is fast ( also tweaked)
