Try round black rubber ones, they work the best. What sort of use is it going to be used for Darryl?.Conti trail attacks for sealed road work,Micheilin Annakee2's for 98% seal 2% gravel or Conti TKC80's for 50/50 use.

I have Anakee's on mine Darryl and they are fine for the road and on metal.  I got a used TKC for the front just to  give it a try and found it better on metal and dirt tracks but for most of my riding I'm happy with the Anakee's.

Those Heideneaus that are being advertised in the back of the newsletter get pretty positive reviews, and the price is right. They come in a mostly-road version and a more dirt-oriented one that looks a bit less knobbly than a TCK80 but a lot moreso than a Tourance or similar.Discalimer: I haven't tried the Heideneaus (or the TCK80s, which have a reputation for being good but not lasting well on a lardy great 1150 and are expensive here).

You're thinking of the K76 for road, and K60 for 50/50. Bear in mind when researching the K60 there are up to 4 different tread patterns depending on the tyre size.

I'd say landing on a wet sealed road hurts almost as much as landing on a dry one. I've put a set of Shinko 705 radials on the 1150. $415 fitted. I know they are good on gravel. However, the last set delaminated, but they weren't radials (knock on wood).I guess  I am a sucker for punishment. But if it makes you feel better, Gerda had an E07 rear and a TKC80 front fitted to her 08  F650GS. She says the tyres work fine.DSC04130_zps841509d4.jpg

Have over 50000 km on F800gs. Just did Southern X Road Ride = 5500 km  in 10days…. I use TKC80 front all the time, for me its great for all riding, over 14000km endurance. Mostly use a iknobbie rear: tried Heidenau, Mitas E09, E10, TKC80. Best is TKC but shortest life, appr 3500 to 4000km rear. When doing a long road ride, switch to stock compromise tyre like Scorpion Trail (that wore out last week in Wellington after 8500km). Rode Wellington to Auckland on new Anakee3: fantastic road tyre, but no gravel time on it yet.Peter
