Hey all,Late notice I know... Greta and Me (Dave), are after a place to crash while we house hunt in Wellington. Yes we are on our way back... must be the club members up there  🙂We are traveling in style, by bike. We do have a tent that is already to go. Dates: Arrive friday 6-7pm.. off the Blue Bridge ferry and travel back on 1 Oct. So this would be over two wknd... however would look at spending the second wknd by ourselves. Thomas (2yrs) will not fit on the bike....Thanks Dave & Greta... Ex Welly members, Current Chch, soon to be Welly again.

Dave, happy to put you and Greta up over the weekend if you've got no other offers. As long as you're comfortable with a couple of Dobermans (very friendly) sniffing around and cats who'll likely try and curl up with you, we've a spare room and all the mod cons, bathroom to yourselves etc. if you'd rather leave your tent packed away  🙂Give me a call - 0272180536Garry

What's an Auckland person? Sounds like it might be bad thing.  😮

I know they're all good in their own way.  When we're out touring (for instance Wanaka last Easter) we so often say “beautiful spot, could you live here”.  In this instance the answer could easily be YES until one thinks seriously about ones life style and what one wants from a village, town or city.  We've lived in Wellington and Napier where our kids were born and liked them both for different reasons but finding suitable work in Napier was difficult for me and (sorry guys) the climate in Welly didn't suit me.  Didn't particularly want to come to Auckland as I hated London when I lived there but the work was here and we have grown to like the place warts and all.  We still feel as though we're coming home when we ride out of the Esk Valley and down the coast watching the Napier Hill grow bigger and enjoy Wellington for it's vibrancy and difference but it's doubtful that we'll ever live there again as our children and grandchildren are in Auckland and we won't be leaving them any time soon.  🙂  We love the country we have chosen to live in and think we are so lucky to be here to share it with you all.

Yep, I don't think you can go very far wrong anywhere in NZ, well, Murupara would be marginal :-), but the hunting is good down there. Maybe I am just not  a Murupara person.  While I love most places, I struggle when it's cold or excessively windy, or when the Latte is not quite right.  :-

yeah I gotta agree with ya Malcie. You don't know how good Auckland is until ya shift out of. First weekend away on the Friday Alison rang me as she was still living up their. She said you coming back for the weekend, I replied ”like f#@k, you can come down here"I even hate driving thru it to go north that's enough to put me off. you really don't realise how bad it is until you leave. best thing about Auckland is seeing it in the rear vision mirror.

I would not bag Murapara. Ya might get a visit from the black power or mongrel mob. That's if they ant all run each other over.

I didn't think so  :), but I am surprised you're leaving Wellington. I definitely thought you were a Beehive person.
