Greetings all,My mate Dick (Hubbard) and I are putting together a trip next year having completed a circumnavigation of Australia in 2010 and a Himalaya trip this year. At this point in time the plan is to complete an "Ice to Ice Tour" shipping our bikes into Anchorage in Alaska, riding north to Prudhoe Bay for a skinny dip in the Artic, then south to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego for a skinny dip in the Antartic. Probably then bringing the bikes out from Buenos Aires. Dick has just bought a new GSA (yellow unfortunately Gremlin!) and I am considering replacing my 2010 GS (currently with 58,000kms on the clock) with another of the same. What we would be interested in is hearing from anyone who has done a similar trip (or knows of anyone who has) or who might have good suggestion/advice about any part of the trip. This could be about shipping, great roads, dangers, camping (bears?), luggage, other accessories etc etc. We have read the books written by Gareth and Jo Morgan, and by Mike Hyde and innumerable blogs and trip reports but are keen to hear more.Any thoughts, comments, advice, rude remarks very welcome. 🙂Kennif
I am jealous :-). You need to search the ride reports on advrider.com, it's an excellent source of information. My longer term plan is to ride the TAT, hopefully before I am 55.

I can only offer a little of the USA and Canada in my KB blogs, but you're welcome to ask any questions (although you've done more and better riding than I).Don't underestimate the distances in the USA (although I doubt you would) and Death Valley is a rather unique experience, especially if the temp gauge tops out at 53C. First time riding has been about real survival, rather than fun riding. Contrast it with the coast road, PCH1 down the west coast of the USA (including the redwoods in Avenue of the Giants).
