Hi RobertoI note you missed the western extremity of the North Island - Stratford/New Plymouth.  Mt Messenger  and/or the "Lost Forgotten Highway"/Whangamomona roads are incredible GS country. Though any road is GS country! Look them up on the net. Well worth riding across from Taupo/Taumaranui/Whangamomona/Stratford/(Mt Messenger/New Plymouth/Opunake)/Wanganui.You certainly have covered all other areas thoroughly.All the best. I would do 400km max when touring.Example: The trip around East Cape took us 3 night from Whakatane to Gisborne.From Napier to Wellington about 5 hours.On the map, why not go up (or Down) on the red route? nice route and ya  covering some ground. I probably will get flamed with these comments but I would miss out Invercargill  and head straight towards Dunedin from Te Anau in the bottom of the south. Farmland with lots of sheep (Yawn). Also back in the North Island from Masteron some nice roads out by the coast thru Pongaroa HERBERTVILLE Porongahau TO WAIPAKARAU. No traffic and beautiful flowing roads.

Hi Roberto,Wow - what a fantastic plan to spend your honeymoon here in NZ AND on a motorbike. Some girls are just so lucky  🙂The only thing I would like to add is: In Europe it's not a problem to do an average of 100 km per hour - especially if you travel on the Autobahn (auto strada ?). Here in NZ I guess one can average around 70 km per hour (I am happy to be corrected here) - and that's pure riding and no stopping and enjoying the scenery. The highways here are not to be confused with the ones in Europe. I don't know where you are from in Italy, but we rode quite often from Stuttgart to Northern Italy via the Reschen Pass to do the Passo de Stelvio and to visit Meran. So if you know that stretch of road between Reschen and Meran, that is comparable to a NZ highway. They are mostly one lane each way and have "passing lanes" built in every 10 - 15 kms. They pass through villages where you have to slow down. Also, please note that the speed limit is 100km/hour and it is majorly enforced - especially over the NZ summer time. So, I think you should plan for an average of 500 km per day plus a few days off in between to give your butts a break.Also, there is so much to see here that you don't want to have a too tight schedule. Maybe you find a spot where you would like to stay an extra day and enjoy what's on offer.As I said, I spent most of my holidays on the motorbike back in Europe and loved it. The only thing is that it can also be quite tiring after a week or two, if you are riding every day.I hope that helps to plan your trip.Regina
