Hi All,I wanted to write a short thank you to Graeme Flyger for organising and leading a Rangitikei Area ride for the “Back Road Riders” (BBR) yesterday on some interesting back roads, quite a few of which I had not ridden before, starting in Marton and taking in the roads west of Hunterville and Taihape with lunch at Flat Hills then crossing State Highway 1 and heading south along the Ruahine rangers back towards Palmy. As I live in National Park the day started fairly early at 7.50am with a quick stop for breakfast in Taihape before I headed onwards to Marton for a 10am meeting time with the rest of the riders. This was my first ride with this particular group although I have ridden with Graeme and John on one other BMWOR ride before. The first thing to hit me was out of 14 bikes on the day only 3 were BMW’s! It was more like a Suzuki Owners Register ride with the other 3 Japanese brands making up the rest on the numbers.Anyway we left on time with reasonable weather but with the threat of rain hanging over us. The ride through the back roads was fun with lots of twisties and a good amount of gravel too which was slippery in places due to the intermittent rain. We stopped for a leisurely lunch and then headed on through the back roads to the west of Mangaweka then back onto SH 1 at which stage I called it a day as this was as far north as the ride was going and an opportune time for me to head towards home. I did 406ks in total on the day and met some good, like minded folks and I look forward to the next ride. Thanks again Graeme.CheersNeil
