Well, we managed to fly in under the radar on this one.  The weather was definitely against us, and we should have drowned, if we didn't get blown off the road, and none of the above happened.  Personally, I blame my brilliant ride planning, even if nobody else does.We needed to mark time for a while to save us from turning up at Macnuts impossibly early for lunch, so I decided a little tootle to Orewa for coffee first was in order.  We waited out one filthy shower at Westgate, then ducked and weaved across the head of the Harbour in the hell wind as far as Silverdale, where I observed two things: another s****y shower rapidly approaching, and a sign to the effect of, "Outlet shops in Silverdale open 7 days a week."  Big brownie points for Bruce, the girls got to go retailing on a ride (finally).  Some of the blokes stood in the street and talked bikes, three of us slid round the back of the shops to a handy cafe and filled in some more of the run schedule for 2011, on my wee faggotty pink netbook (like, who will steal a pink one?)Yep, 2011.  Now, we are not going to get everybody's suggestions in the calendar, but there are only 52 weeks in the year.  Ride scheduling is a work in progress, OK?From Silverdale across the head of the Harbour again, this time via Waitoki, Kaukapakapa and Helensville to Macnuts.  Huge ups to them for biker friendly: great tucker, great service, great place for a good cuppa and a feed.  Thoroughly recommended. One of the Pauls getting through his meat so he can eat his pudding, and man, carrot cake with macadamias innit is GOOD!00003.jpgThe other Paul checking out his brekkie eggs:  just right, YoungJim, and you missed out, Mr All Day Brekkie, you.00007.jpgRob about to tackle a ginormous burger with his steely knife and fork, before the b****y thing spread any further, and took over the world.00009.jpgWe tried to have an aftermatch at the small brewery in Riverhead, but all their brews were full strength, so out of bounds for us J Baker Insurance folk (and personal choice, I have to say) and the place was chokka block, so as Rob headed back to the Shore, the last of the legionaries headed to the Red Baron house for coffee. The Red Baron himself provided the floorshow, hopping out of his riding gear and into his coffee drinking attire, and displaying his Macnut cluster for all to see.  He thought my camera was out of reach, but he forgot about my phone  👿DSC00004.jpgApologies to PeterZ and the Librarian, only a small group and I should have gotten you all on camera and didn't.  Special thanks to Rob for doing TEC, and the Red Barons for coffee.  Big kudos to the Librarian: while Beemer jockeys were being nervous Nellies with wind gusts, Jean calmy countersteered her way through them on the 250 Burger, than which there is no more sensitive to wind gusts bike.  Well done her.
