The Weather God relented, and this morning's forecast was better than last night's.  I was slightly late leaving home: time spent searching for the Orang-Utan mascot, Rusty, was futile.  He is still on school holiday duty at the Library, and Jean didn't bring him home.  I still managed to arrive in good time, just as Team Foley had gotten off their bike.  We organised our cuppas, then GunnyRob and Ramon, Campbell and the Red Baron turned up in quick succession. Slightly late were Neko and Jason, but I had heard Neko coming all the way from Herne bay, so we weren't leaving without her.  (Neko, your scooter needs a volume control.)Campbell advised gnarly roadworks on the Mangawhai Road, so the Woodcocks/Wayby Valley route was abandoned, we went to Waimauku, then Taylors/Old North to Helensville, then SH16 to Wellsford for coffee.  During our smoko break we were joined by Steven, YoungJim, Malcolm and Jean on the project cruiser (already looking quite tasty, Malcolm), Rob on the other cruiser, and Jason and Co caught up.From Wellsford we went via Kaiwaka to Mangawhai (Just a great bit of road, that) and "round the bays" to Waipu.  The twisties over Langs and Waipu were a bit ugly, going from dry to wet to wetter on the shady corners: totally sent my sense of adventure on strike.  More bikes and riders greeted us at the Pizza barn.  I particularly noticed Shah on his new "jaffa" F800R: very smart bike.  If I didn't have the bike I love..................  Peter Z had been looming in my mirrors for a while, and I noticed Tony O' merging with us at Mangawhai.  (Tony had come over the new seal that had replaced the gnarly roadworks, so Wayby Valley eventually got reestablished as the way home.)Lunch as always was very good.  BMWOR rider behaviour was, as usual, a bit suspect.  Our Singaporean Bodgie, not speaking Scottish, dived into the "Lassies" to relieve himself.  His confusion is understandable: after all, Scots women sometimes wear trews, and the men wear skirts.  Gender-bending seems to be their way.  Malcolm and the Red Baron introduced themselves so enthusiastically that Malcolm's glass was shattered and his drink spread all over the table and floor.Some made their way home after lunch via the main drag; people to see, things to do.  YoungJim took over the lead, and I gave Team Foley a spell at TEC, and we got almost to Warkworth before fuel lights called a stop for some of us.  From there, the "enthusiasts" followed YoungJim over Woodcocks and 16 back to the smoke, and the few ice cream addicts followed me to Orewa.Thanks everyone for your company.The Bodgie and the Jaffa.Malcolm's project bike, Shah's F800, with rider, and in the background, L to R, Jason, Red Baron and GunnyRob, all correctly labelled as "Curios".The rump of the run parking up at Orewa, preparing to do the regular battle with the forces of ICE CREAM.
