Lousy weather forecast, I thought I might get a no-show day and spend it making more marmalade – yeah, right. There were Team Foley, Team Red Baron, Jochen and O'Sheaman waiting for the illustrious leader to turn up at Papakura, so away we went, by dawn's early drizzle. The drizzle only lasted until we rode into the fog after Bombay, and we rode out of the fog into a dry but cold day under louring cloud. Paul F informed us when we stopped for elevenses at Workman's in Matamata that it had been 5 degrees a lot of the way (another case of more information than I need on my instruments). I thought that was not too bad, only my snorer was frostbitten from running with the visor cracked open to maintain a bit of forward vision (it was either that, or stop breathing), but going by the grousing everybody else thought it was cold.Workman's warmed us up, then it was off over the Kaimais (those always great sweepers!) and through Pyes Pa Road to Hamurana and round the bottom of the Lake to Vegas. I had Maccas black-flagged by poncy beemer owners before I even left Papakura, so Jochen took over the lead and took us to Fat Dog. (He and Kerry Red Baron told us we HAD to go there.) The place was chocker, and the queue was out the door. I was not the only one muttering that Maccas would have been quicker, but Jochen and Kerry knew of what they spake: the service was lightning fast, once we had ordered. Jochen warned us about portion size, so no-one ordered dessert. Good call, Jochen.Jochen with pasta of the day.Paul O' with far too much on a plate.Team Foley sharing bangers and mash, Mrs F channeling Nicole Kidman - "Eyes Wide Shut".Rusty checking a Dog's Bollix Burger for size. And wincing as Bwucie prepared to stab the yolk.We got as far as Ohinewai before we rode into the weather, with only one brief stop for Paul F to fertigate a perfectly innocent little cyprus bush at Te Hoe. Thereafter there were a few squiggly moments until there had been enough rain to wash the oil and rubber off the road: not pleasant when you are tired and cold, but it concentrates your thinking remarkably. I'd expected the rain to be warmish, coming from a big sub-tropical storm, but not.Team Foley and I stopped for hot chocolate at Bombay, the others kept on rocking for home, probably didn't want to unzip and let any water through. I had no real choice, I'd been on reserve for twenty k's, and did not want to finish the day pushing a bimmer down the motorway.A much better way to spend a Sunday than lazing around the house, some great roads, and a monumental feed.

No matter what Huey threw at us Enzo got us through it. Bwucie, you always seem to string great roads of varying skill levels for us to enjoy. Kaimais, Pyes Pah Road, Landscape and Quine Roads great scenery and enough sweepers and twisties to keep us all alert and happy.Cheers Bwucie, great day had by all.
