Went for my first Maramarua Forest trail ride today. What FUN!I got chucked off THREE TIMES. Twice on the last run of the day. I was obviously getting tired so I packed it up and went home. If you haven't been there, it's much better than Woodhill, and it's only an hour from Auckland. I'm going to try it again on 17th Jan.Of course, there's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xrCjO9ogc4 and as always, remember to click "HD"DTY

AnonymousGuest03/01/2010 at 8:20 amPost count: 2134Dave there is a training day with Chris Birch on the 10th $150.00 each. This is the only time he has this year email me if you are keen. We went out to the Huntley park today and was fun. Just like you I dropped the bike a few timesThe training is for trail/enduro riding only and will be a small group of 4. Who better to show us how to ride than one of the worlds best riders.

AnonymousGuest03/01/2010 at 9:44 amPost count: 2134Yes a 15k clay track with some tight corners with some step drop offs. I would not like to be on the track if it rains. The tight corners is where I have been dropping the bike so they have been slow drops, I have 6.5 hours on the bike and have never been in top gear yet, but I'm getting better and faster. If you would like to come out and ride with us I could email you events we go to. I go out with Glen (KTM 250) and Deano (bm450x) both from Experience. We don't go to Woodhill as the sand really eats into the running gear on the bikes.Huntley has a MX track as well and I rode one lap and didn't enjoy it at all. It certainly showed up my lack of riding skills 😀

Looking good :-)...Did you focus on the ruts? I am keen to do a couple of trail rides this summer, as well as some adventure rides. I still need to go through Aotuhia.
AnonymousInactive11/01/2010 at 6:26 amPost count: 305Yep, when are you guys home? I'm going again this Sunday.DTY
Just got home an hour ago. Apparently I am not going on the 17th. Will do the next opportunity.
AnonymousGuest12/01/2010 at 7:53 amPost count: 2134Alex Chris Birch asked if the BMW adventure riders would be keen on a training weekend riding the 42nd and Fishers track. If you are contact Chris. This includes Wellington adventure riders.I had a day out with Chris on Sunday at his private training track and I never had the 450 out of second gear. My over all average speed on the 450 after 7.2 hours is 26kph. Chris averaged 18kph on the Roof of Africa race 😮
