We are up at the beach and are going top Russell for lunch if anyone wants to come. Here is the notification! Also happy New Year fellows of the Rode!:Mangawhai Motorcycle CollectiveThe Mangawhai Motorcycle Collective’s Traditional Annual Run to the Duke of Marlborough Hotel for this year is set down for Monday 4 January, 2010. The route will be Mangawhai Village, Kaiwaka, Brynderwyns,Whangarei, Kamo, Kawakawa, Opua, Russell. The return will be by way of the Old Russell Road, through Oakura rejoining SH1 at Whakapara. Then we retrace our steps and come back through Waipu, Langs and on to Mangawhai Heads.Meeting Place: outside Mangawhai Fish and Tackle, Wood Street, opposite Scotty’s Four Square.Time: 8.50 for a 09.00 start. This is not a race. If you want to race it, that will take place the previous day, or the next day, or the day after: you choose. The rules are simple: same as Ulysses, BMWOR and Patriots MC: keep behind the RIC (Rider in Charge), who for this ride will be Peter Brodeur. If you get in front of him, just keep going and don’t bother coming back, as they say in the Patriots MC. We leave together and we arrive together. Some regular members, such as Robert Scott and John Rankin will be manning the shop and won’t be able to make it, but we welcome our newest recruit, Richard Holden, who we hope will be able to join us. If the weather is crap we might run it the next day, depending on the long range forecast.Remember: full tanks and empty bladders.Attached is the Menu

Sounds like I don't have to plan me a day out, someone's done it for me: brilliant! Save a space for a slow Eleven-Hundy-Ess.

Just finished the North Thailand artilce tonight, and for the publication, I will now re-read Alex's helpful hints on how to extract the photos to use, from the 400 pics I have posted on my Facebook page and on photobucket. Big thumbs up to the Mangawhai Motorcycle Collective: nice ride in some new territory for me, nice company. Pity about the weather, but that's something you just have to put up with.Didn't take my start distance, but I musta covered a bit of ground during the day - bum was getting sore the last few k's from the bridge back to Rewa Hard, and the knees protested when I got off the bike. All good: if you can still feel pain, it probably means you're still alive.
