Final testing stage for iconic bike thats set to be revealed at the NEC ShowACCORDING to hot rumours out of Germany, BMW is in the final testing phase of its replacement for the iconic K1200LT.The new bike is apparently a 1600cc six-cylinder motorcycle with the by-now-usual-for-the-range host of electronic rider aids including the firm's ESA electronic suspension adjustment technology and huge hard panniers as standard. The bike is due to be revealed at the NEC Motorcycle Show in the UK later this year and will go on sale early in 2010.The K1600Lt was originally to be released at the Paris M/C show.
Dean can we please have confirmation on this
Will 1600cc be enough? Honda already makes an 1800 and Triumph a 2300cc bike. So, will a 1600cc be manly enough, or will people still kick sand your way?

It might look something like this 😕
Interesting. I guess it will be an amazing long distance tourer, especially two-up. It's just not my thing. It is probably intended for the US market.
Courtesy of the BMW Luxury Touring Community website:Spotted near Los AngelesSome think this may be a shot of the new LT, while others think it is the rumored new "Luxury" GT. Clearly showing the same stalk mounted mirrors, windshield mechanism and front suspension as the current K1300GT and similar lower baggage as the GT but sporting some new cladding - this bike shares a lot with the current GT. With a fairing mounted antenna like the current R1200RT it is likely equipped with a radio and rumors have been rampant about new electronics and communication. The topcase looks redesigned, with a larger and more supportive backrest, but still could be removable like the current GT or RT. While many reports state that this bike is equipped with the new "concept 6" engine, it is impossible to tell for sure from these pictures. The engine appears to be much wider, noting that the lower portion of the bodywork exposes the engine. Whatever it is, it seems very likely we will see the real deal this fall.
and looks like the seat is nice and low to the ground, must be trying to get the Goldwing riders to come across

Full-size pannier and a large top box doubling a pillion backrest are standard, like the old K1200LT it effectively replaces, though that bike hasn’t been produced since 2007.Full story and the hi-res picture in next week’s MCN, on sale June 23.
