Pretty cool!  I knew that the GS was destined for the motard treatment. The Bike Rider Magazine guys were on one of those Dorsoduros at the track last time.  They didn't appear to be very impressed.  I'll be curious to see how the write-up goes.  I get the feeling that bike mag reporters frequently give overly high opinions, regardless if the bike is crap.  It keeps the free test-bikes coming in, right?  In fact, in recent memory the only bike that has received a bad review has been the Harley XR1200.  Everything else has been the best bike ever!Kinda like Dean or Dave A reviewing anything with a BMW logo on it."The Columbia Professional Trek-Series thermal underwear performed faultlessly on our trip.  However, the BMW long-johns we tried were far superior, even though they are made in Taiwan, the elastic lost it's stretch, the dye ran down into my socks and the 'eco' hemp fibres caused some sort of excema in me nethers""Would I recommend the BMW thermals?  Absolutely."

I really like the look of the Aprilia. Maybe the engine is just to highly strung? It would be fun to ride to work on and would be useful on shortish weekend rides, not to mention the occasional track day. How bad can a bike be nowadays? I'd hate to have one that leaves me stranded. The rest can usually be fixed with an aftermarket suspension. As for long johns, Swazi and Icebreaker work for me.

I like the BMW better. What I do like on the Aprilia is the can on the right side of the bike less things to throw the leg over also the front brake reservoir. Unlike the BMW reservoir which sets up in the air like an after thought.

I had a look at the Aprilia today. Mt Eden Motorcycles have them in the showroom. Will have to take one out for a test ride. It looks even better in the flesh. The F650GS is clearly a more versatile bike. However, the Aprilia would make a great weekend toy. The ergonomics seem to fit me well. Build quality appears to be very good. I asked them about service intervals. They are much more frequent than with the F650GS. I could get over that though, especially if I actually had the spare cash to buy one :-). It would go well with the 1150 and the R80.
