Hi allMy partner and I, along with another couple who are close friends, are planning to do a motorcycle tour of Europe in a couple of years. We have checked out many of the organised tours but have decided (rightly or wrongly) that we would like to do our own thing. I'm sure that we are not re-inventing the wheel and someone has already done this before, so I am seeking tips and advice to help us in our planning. Our initial thoughts are to purchase bikes in the UK, travel Europe, return to the UK and "flick" the bikes off (we have contacts who can do that for us). This approach is based on the very high cost of renting bikes for a 4 to 5 week period. We will be planning our own itinerary over the next 12 months or so, so we have plenty of time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Cheers, Rick

Hey,Tried to link my same stuff in... have a look back about 2-3 pages back and you will see a few of the comments.Have a good look around and ask the AA, they can put you onto the right people as well. I found that it was going to be better to take our own bikes into Europe, cost when selling and re-buying etc once in the UK.. It was working out cheaper for the bikes to go over than what it is going to be for us.Ask around, the advice I got was at least you know the bike, how it runs and anything else ublike when you pick up another bike and go.Enjoy, if you're around Wellington pop in.Dave

Thanks Dave…We are very early in the planning stages - but I do intend to get quotes to ship our own bikes over there...it could well work out to be cost effective.Cheers, Rick
