It was the committee lunch ride today and Jean and I had been planning to get out for days. It's always worth doing what you plan even when mother nature seems to be plotting against you. As we were getting dressed this am a black squall came through giving the district a thorough soaking and we both looked at each other briefly then said in unison nah, let's go anyway. As it turned out we didn't get wet – the weather was fine and sunny all the way there and all the way back but five minutes after getting home we got another drenching from the west but even in the darkness there was a big smile. The back road guys looked like they had fun and were appropriately dirty. We stuck to the seal both ways and had a good run through Woodcocks and Kaukapakapa before swinging left to run down to Silverdale and home. A big group of bikes left the Honey Farm as we arrived and later as we smiled our way through Woodcocks Road they were parked up just through a bend with a CBR looking very worse for wear, fortunately everybody was on their feet so assumed no injury to anything other than pride. Thanks Alex, a good ride, good tucker and the icing on the cake was the $20 petrol vouchers that you handed out as we were leaving for home, I'll definitely come again. 🙄
