    The Kiwibiker adventure section are planning a ride on the 25th & 26th of April.  Details are here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2009-4-25&c=0I should be able to attend this one. If anyone else is keen let me know. As the ride starts at Otorohonga at 8.45am, I would ride down Friday afternoon and spend the night there. The 42 Traverse should be fun again, this time from the top down, with the Fisher track thrown in as well. They have currently 17 people signed up, enough to lift a bike across any obstacle. The 42nd is a nice little challenge, especially on a big bike. There is also a really nice muddy section at the Owhango end, a few water crossings and the odd steep bit.

    Alex, please mark me in for this one.  Looks too good to miss.  I think I'll put off putting back on the windshield until after it though  😀

    I think we'll have to organize accommodation fairly soon. I anyone else in? It's probably a good idea to add yourself to the list on Kiwibiker.

    It would be courteous. At the very least, let the organiser know you're coming.

    Hi Steven, looks like it's going to be a good ride. I've already put my name down, but have not booked accommodation yet. It will be good to catch up wit your again. There should be a few BMW on the ride. I guess you will be riding your DR instead. The Traverse is a bit much on an 1150. While I am sure it can be coaxed through, I'd say the fun factor would suffer. Last time I had enough trouble to get the jugs of the R80 past the ruts in the muddy section.

    Done........I am still relatively new to this and couldn't see how I could confirm on Kiwi Biker....but then I realised that I had to log in first  :-D.

    I've booked a family cabin at Taumarunui Holiday Park for the Saturday night [no standard cabins left] .  It has 4 beds so room for 3 others. Works out at $20/head if all 4 beds taken.  If anyone wants one, let me know asap.Alex:  Have you booked somewhere near Otorohanga?

    I have sent an email, but have not had a reply. Will give them a ring if I there is no response by Sunday afternoon. I will take one of the beds in your cabin. Peter F800GS may also be interested and possibly Richard K.

    The bike is repaired ready to go but I'm not so the doctor tells me so I suppose I'll have stay at home 🙁 I really would like to go 🙄

    Hmm. Sounds like your doctor knows you ride bikes. Rule number one is never let them know that, and rule number two is: if in doubt refer to rule number one.The nature of your accident meant they got the goods on you before you could offer another story, unfortunately.My sister, while recovering from injuries caused by a geezer fleeing the Police, was told by her doctor not to drive, so she didn't: she went everywhere on her bike.Best, though, that you heal up proper before risking parting company off-piste again. Have patience, and hug your bikes daily, lest they think you've gone off them.

    wassup with that lovely Basic Alex? You've got me sussed in one - I'm not a sufficiently confident rider to do the 42nd or Fishers on the 1150 so specially since its not a 1150GSA with the lower first gear - at least one stream exit with a sand trap would be a challenge for me on the 1150 I found it challenging enough on the DR late last year.Look forward to catching up with you and you pals from Auckland - I believe Garry W and K Slider will be bringing their BMWs from Wellington.Cheers Aslan

    The Basic has a clutch issue. The clutch doesn't disengage. I'll have to take it apart and have a look. If it's serious I may have to pull out. The 1150 is still at Experience, hopefully they'll be able to get it running again, soon. Today I'll be riding Gerda's bike to work.
