Hi folks,Unfortunately the starter motor on my 80 GS has finally given up the ghost, but the main problem is that I’m in way out west in Oz and I’m trying to organise things from over here. For various reasons I’ve decided that I’d like to replace the starter with a new Valeo starter, but the local guy who’s looking at the bike is quoting $900+GST, and that’s just plain wrong.  So folks, has anybody got a source for either new or reconditioned Valeo starters for sensible money? Thanks in advanceJohn

Check out the parts links ...

Thanks for that, I didn't think to check there ...  🙄Because my mate wants to get the bike running in time for the long weekend, we've ended going for a recon Bosch unit from Kane at http://www.rtwinworks.co.nzI haven't actually spoken to the guy, but my mate seems impressed with his dealing so far.  If he comes through I'll let you know, and you can add his details to your link ... 😎

Just to tie up the loose ends on this, Kane at http://www.rtwinworks.co.nz went out of his way to make sure that my mate got the starter and also the necessary support bracket for the Bosch starter. On the basis of the effort he put in, I'd certainly give him a go if I need anything else for the bike.CheersJohnPS. The usual rider to all this, I've got no affiliation to the guy but on this occasion he provided a good service.

Thanks for the link. I may get him to do my gearbox one of these days, hopefully later rather than sooner.
