Have you been down there Alex. I thought it was still going to be a fish and chip shop and not a cafe.

I've rung them and they now offer coffee. We've been there once before, and it is a suitable location. People may want to combine this with a swim at the beach. There are changing sheds next door. It could be pretty busy though, but that's a risk we take. If it's too full I might move on to the Nikau Cafe via the gravel road.

Well, I just realized that I won't be able to join the lunch ride, got to pick my brother-in-law up from the airport.

I would step up again, but I'm going to be in Aus this weekend.  Though you don't really need a ride leader on a lunch ride. But I'm sure there are lots of other candidates who might volunteer...Dean?  Nope, lame.  Plus he's hurt his shoulder.Dave the Pom?  No, probably still scrubbing in his tyres, "Ya know, you can't be too careful with new tyres.  Roite-o, cheerio, cup o' tea, pass the chips, slow down wouldya?  Why does everyone ride on Sundays, anyway?"Steven S?  "Depends, I might have little jobs to do  🙂 🙂 :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))"Neko?  "Maybe, but just for a little while."Jim?  "Sure, but we're stopping for ice cream in Pokeno on the way back."Dick?  "No problem, but we're going via Te Kuiti."Tony Honda?  "Sorry guys, I'm away on the Iron Nuts 5000.  Back tomorrow around 3am"Des?  "I'd be happy to lead.  Of course I've never led the group before and I'm not sure how I'd feel about that.  Leading a group is exciting on many levels.  First, of course, having so many folks looking to you for a direction, a purpose, if you will.  Then there's that sense of responsibility. That can certainly be a rush if you let it get into your head.  But it's more than just a responsibility, it's a balance, the balance between keeping it fun for the faster riders and the will to keep from going too fast and leaving too many behind.  Then, there's assigning the "Tail-end-Charlie".  How can this be done diplomatically?  Should I ask for volunteers, or just assign it so someone on a GS?  How do those guys on GS's go so fast anyway?"George K12S?  "Yeah, whatever.  I'll probably see you guys on my way back.  After I've had lunch. And coffee.  And a slice of pie."hehe. More wine!

Coffee machine is definitely operational, and the end product is OK. Mine host seems to have learnt customer service from Basil Fawlty, or maybe he is biker phobic, dunno. It wasn't my body odour, because I left that in the surf.I would revisit the scene of last weekend's body-surfing crime (crime of indecent exposure, when an old buggar like me hits the beach in budgie-smuggler togs), but I have to get the Librarian's back wheel out of the Burgman and over to Cycletreads for a tyre transplant. Water temperature for the West Coast is surprisingly warm at the moment - flippers would be wise, and a handski to go with the flippers goes without saying...............http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~bandjc/Images/surfbimmer.jpg
