P0049226.jpgSystem 6 helmetFollowing on from BMW's best-selling System 5 helmet, the System 6 improves on the helmet's already impressive aeroacoustic and aerodynamic credentials. The System 6 provides a highly attractive modern design with a number of advancements including superior size and weight. The helmet will be available in two shell sizes weighing 1570g (small shell) and 1670g (large shell) - a significant drop in weight from the System 5 helmet. The helmet is constructed from an outer glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) with an impact absorbing inner shell EPS (expanded polystyrene). The interior is made of Alcantara® and DuPont Coolmax® and is all removable and washable. The chinstrap contains an integrated neckband which prevents the helmet from twisting. This ensures that in the event of an accident the helmet remains in the best possible position to provide maximum protection. Very few helmets on the market incorporate this feature.    An anti-fog double glazed visor comes as standard with the System 6. An in-helmet drop-down sun visor is also included, easily operated by means of a slide control on the side of the helmet. The aerodynamics of the System 6 are extremely efficient, making it one of the quietest flip-front helmets on the market. The System 6 helmet is also compatible with the BMW Bluetooth Communications System.Enduro Carbon helmetA new carbon version of the current Enduro helmet will be available shortly. Based on the technology used to create the SportIntegral Carbon helmet, the Enduro Carbon helmet will be extremely lightweight, while maintaining maximum rider safety. The helmet's slim sporty shape, unpainted carbon shell and aerodynamically perfected visor create a superb look and make the perfect enduro accessory. With ECE 22-05 certification the helmet is suitable for use both on and off-road. The design has been developed using a wind tunnel to create a helmet that is unrivalled in terms of aerodynamic streamlining. This also ensures that wind noise is kept to a minimum, maintaining a safer, more comfortable environment for the wearer. The helmet is constructed from high-quality carbon with a total weight, including visor and peak, of a mere 1,070 grams for the small helmet shell, or 1,170 grams for the large helmet shell. In addition to being the only carbon enduro helmet with both a visor and peak, it is also the lightest enduro helmet on the market. The low weight of the helmet is due not only to the carbon and aramide outer shell, but also the impact-absorbing, single-section plastic inner shell or EPS. While it is lightweight the helmet still provides a high level of safety performance. All inner fittings are made from high-quality Alcantara and Coolmax fabric (DuPont) and can be removed for washing. An efficient ventilation system provides simple but effective climate regulation. The visor offers almost 100 percent UV radiation absorption with an antiscratch coating. An additional antifog coating and the removable chin spoiler ensure optimum visibility even in damp weather or when used for sport riding. A tinted visor and visor with reflective coating are also available as accessories and are easily fitted with no need for tools.

Thought this may of interest. Check out the attached picture.Article SummaryNovember 22, 2005 NEW IMAGES Seeing behind you on a motorcyclehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle  has always been a problem. Sometimes the mirrorshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror  vibrate, and sometimes they offer a terrific view of your elbows, and most of the time they offer a distinctly inferior view of the rear compared to that you get in a car because you can’t see the parts directly behind you. As a soldier in combat will tell you, when your situational awareness is down in a hostile environment, the risk of injury multiplies enormously. And hence when a helmethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmet  with an integrated rear view mirror system was launched last week in Munich we think it’s worth a look. Manufacturers Reevu spent ten years developing the helmet, which has a built-in 180 degree unbreakable rear-view mirror system in the hope it will save lives on the roads by improving situational awareness and hence preventing accidents. The innovative technology allows the wearer to see the road behind, using a system of unbreakable mirrors constructed out of ABS, which are contained inside the helmet shell and provide a window in the top of the helmet opening – a robust, low cost heads-up display.

Might be useful when you're stopped at traffic lights, so you can brace yourself before some drunk idiot runs into you.Other than that mirrors (on the bike) work for me.

I have heard that BMW helmets are made by Schuberth. Here is a link to their new C3 - which is available NOW (at Cycletreads, for example). By the look of it, many new features of the upcoming System 6 are already in the Schuberth C3.http://www.schuberth.de/index.php?id=2&L=1I did a post on the Tech Talk area in reply to Desamo's request for helmet - help. Here is a shortcut to this: http://forum.bmwor.org.nz/index.php/topic,1365.15.htmlAfter a couple of weeks with the new C3 - it is as comfy as the (v-good) C2, the sunshade in longer and the chin secure ratchet system is much easier and quicker to use. It is noticeably lighter also! All good so far. I do miss the visor popping forward on either or bot sides to control air flow while it is down, but that is a minor issue. Peter GT
