Today, I was contacted by a charming 21 year old orphan from Cote D'Ivoire who gained my contact details from the BMWOR.She made me an extremely lucrative offer, and therefore I would like to publicly offer my sincere gratitude to the fellow OR member who has passed on my contact details to her.If that member would like to contact me privately and help me with the costs of assisting this poor unfortunate orphan in gaining access to her father's fortune I will gladly share my part of the generous finders fee that she has offered. However, there is only one OR member contacts me on the email address that the unfortunate orphan used, and that arouses my suspicion ... If it wasn't for the fact that Mr Bell from the vicinity of Hamilton were such a prominent member of the law enforcement community I would be really suspicious ...  😛Seriously folks.Steve ... run a virus/ad/malware checkEverybody else ... heads up.

I have just deleted the latest members account. This may have been the culprit. It is best if members hide their email details and allow only private messaging. I try to be careful about admissions and usually do a little research, but one must have slipped through.

Not a bad idea Alex, but Steve is the only connection between the OR and my hotmail address that the scam came through on.The address that the OR have on record is my gmail address, so I suspect that Steve's PC's been got at.That said, I thought it was worthwhile to warn other OR members that the scammers are still trying it on.

It could be anyone.By the time the bug has run through umpty-leven computers you would be amazed and appalled at what can come out of another person's PC. This is the main reason why you should not indiscriminately "forward" emails without stripping out all the multitude of addresses that tend to prepend funny/popular/scurrilous/filthy posts. On my linux PC I run a firewall and an anti virus, on my Windoze one I use a (non-Windoze) firewall, anti-virus, Ad aware, Spybot, Crap Cleaner, and Spyware blaster. Need I say any more about which I consider to be the more vulnerable system?

I only use Hotmail for all forums and find hotmail seems to be more secure than xtra and other NZ email accounts.
