So what do you all recommend in terms of radar detector? And a place to buy from locally.Thanks.
AnonymousInactive29/09/2008 at 7:39 amPost count: 305Man, that was a short post.I'm certain that mine isn't as good as Dean's, but I'm very happy with my Bel RX65. I paid $429 from CartertonRyan on Trademe. He's a regular trader, and has also supplied two other of my mates. Depending on what research you accept (search for sites that don't offer them for sale, it's difficult) the V1 or the Bel STi is the best. However, the only difference between the RX65 and the STi is that the STi adds non-detectability to identical detection performance. We in NZ don't care (yet) about non-detectability, so the cheaper RX65 won my money. It has saved me countless times and I love it.The Escort 9500 is built on the same platform as the Bel RX65 and offer similar performance, so best price wins.

AnonymousInactive29/09/2008 at 3:27 pmPost count: 305NZ is trying to ban radar detectors, like in Australia. It just hasn't happened yet. However, they've been talking about it for the nearly four years that I've been here. So, if you have faith in the bureaucracy, it may be a couple of more years. The decision to be made is whether you will still continue to use a radar detector after they are banned. If so, you'll need one that's non-detectable by police "radar detector detectors". There aren't many that fit that bill, but the BEL STi does (for now).Dave

I hope you don't build our roads with the same technique as you do buying products and fittings. Cheap 🙄 😀

I do often, actually most of the time. 😎 Those who enjoy shopping at the warehouse will not understand 😀
AnonymousInactive01/10/2008 at 4:09 amPost count: 305Put it in perspective Dean, you win everything. For the public sector, cost wins over "Non-Priced Attributes" nearly every time. The NPA's are there to knock off the contractor who may be low, but dodgy.

I so please you recognize this. If only Bush would take the advise of another KiwiCrowe has novel plan to cure financial crisis 1:07PM Wednesday Oct 01, 2008Trailer for Body of LiesLOS ANGELES - Russell Crowe has an Oscar and is co-owner of the Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team, but maybe his next job should be US treasury secretary. The New Zealand-born actor announced, during a US TV talkshow appearance, a mathematically-flawed plan to cure America's financial crisis."I have been intently watching the political process," Crowe told talkshow host Jay Leno.Crowe believes the US government should give each American US$1 million ($1.50 million). His reasoning is the US has a population of about 300 million, so the US$300 billion outlay is a fraction of the US$700 billion financial bailout package rejected by politicians in Washington DC yesterday. "I was thinking," Crowe said."If they want to stimulate the economy and get people spending so they can look after their mortgage ... give everyone US$1 million."His plan would actually cost $300 trillion. Crowe is in the US to promote his new spy thriller with Leonardo DiCaprio and director Ridley Scott, Body of Lies, which opens in Australia on October 9.The actor is preparing for another film with Scott, Nottingham, based on Robin Hood, and has grown his hair past shoulder length."I'm going to play Maid Marion," Crowe, twirling his long hair, told Leno.Crowe will play the Sheriff of Nottingham and Siena Miller has been cast as Maid Marion.
Looks like his maths is a little bit off. A billion here, a trillion there and pretty soon you'll be talking about real money 😀
