For the first time ever I've had a go doing a Woodhill forest ride on a 250. What a hoot that is. 250s are so easy to ride, compared to the heavy bikes. On Adventure rides it would be just too easy. Dodging the trees was fun, I even got a bit of air under the bike and managed to slide around a bit. On my R80 this would have been a handful. I was constantly worried about smacking a cylinder into a stump, but on a DR250 it's pointing straight up, so no worries. Heck, I've even passed a couple of five year olds, but only just.If in doubt gas it a bit more, that seemed to work fine. I have been Fallow hunting in Woodhill forest several times. During that time I saw one deer in the distance. Today I came within a couple of meters of being knocked off my bike by a good sized Fallow stag with a nice set of antlers. I saw him out of the corner of my eye, but thought it was a rider coming on a side track, next thing it was all deer and antlers in front of me.I will be back :-). The Waitemata Motorcycle Club has these family days well organized.
