I have always stopped at a certain service station in Bulls to re-fuel. It's a big one and is a hub for riders to fill up at. I was doing a trip between Wanganui and Wellington, and needed to top up. I've always used this one, but this time there were signs at each pump saying something like, 'Pre-pay at counter to unlock pump.' Well that dos'nt work for me.I went inside and said "I don't know how much I want, I want to fill up." (Don't we all fill up, rather than buy XX dollars worth?)  "It's management's idea." she said. "Give me $10 worth - I won't be back here again!"Is this the way fuel stations are going to go? I was telling another biker and he experienced the same situation somewhere else. I know why: It's because some folk fill up and take off without paying. And thinking about it, a motor cycle only takes a few dollars worth compared to a vehicle with four wheels (or more). So we are not important to them!Anyway, I can fill up at Sanson - just down the road, and collect Flybuy points. Should have done that this time.

I said give me $20 and I won't be back again, about five minutes ago. The idjits didn't even have a sign out. Just some guy talking on the intercom in a language he thought was English. Turn out they change to prepay at ten. It was just before ten. He said it's a shift change and they still have to put the sign out. Peanuts and monkeys.

I agree, I also can not understand why only Mobil has pay at the pump. I hate having to go into the shop. Most other western countries you can pay at the pump with a credit card.

Had the same the other day at my local Caltex station for which I have a Caltex starcard and have been going there for the last 20 years or more, two or three times a week spending around $800 per month. When I finally got through to our turbaned friend to switch on the pump he claimed he didnt recognise me even though we have had lots of conversations in the past, usually about the car wash not working properly and me wanting my money back.So he was told in no certain terms where he could put his pump if it happens again !!!!  😡Must be an age thing turning into a grumpy old B@#$%#$^%^d  👿

Absolute pet hate of mine! I vote firmly with my feet, and refuse to use prepay gas stations. I'm not a criminal and refuse to be treated like one! Grrr!

Yep, peeze me off too, I've been known to drive away from a few. When I must I stand and stare at the attendant inside and they usually activate the pump. Keep flipping the nozzle cutoff on the pump and it makes a sound the money taker can hear. The Mobil station on the corner of Ponsonby and 'K' Rd has disabled the credit card aspect of their pumps and they only work with eftpos cards – w**krs. I'm fed up with being punished for others misdemeanors because the gas stand is too tight to put adequate staff on the forecourt! With the profits  they make ( and dont anyone try to convince me otherwise) they can bloody afford to!How about a list of GOOD gas stations to share?

Just stay away from BP they are really price gouging now.  😐There is no garages in Auckland I could recommend. 🙄The one great thing about the 1200 adventure is the tank will hold 700ks of fuel and the 118d car will hold 800ks of diesel so my visits are now only once or twice a month. 😀

I've been using the Mobil In Pt Chev on Great North Road.  It's got hi-test and you can put your eftpos card in at the pump.  Nice.
