Hi,Just wondering if anyone else out there has tried the 'new' Bridgstone BT021 tyres and with what results? For the record my K100RS got over a 10,000 km from a set BT020's. When trying to get the equivelent tyres fitted for my new(ish) K1200RS I was told - "no more 020's - the new 021's replace them - BUT they offer 15% more mileage." Well at $610 fitted for a set, so they should! My concern is that right from the start the front tyres appeared lean on the tred, and after 4,000 k's I was concerned. Now After just 8,000 km the front tyres would struggle to get a warrent ie they didn't live up to the manufacturers claims. For the rear tyres I have no complaints they still look to have 2 - 3,000 more K's in them.

I doubt whether it comes down to tyre pressure – but interestingly, BMW recommends the same tyre pressure for the K1200RS – whether riding 1 up; 2 up; or 2up plus luggage ….. ie Front 2.5 (36psi) and Rear 2.9 ( 42 psi) ….so that begs more questions for those that are used to adjusting tyre pressures to suit loads ???
The K1200 is a heavy and powerful bike and not really comparable to the k100., The pressure you have mentioned seems to be the highest pressure they are comfortable with. Keep in mind that the pressure will rise with use. My little 1150 has a recommended pressure of 33/36. That pressure works well, but doesn't exactly safe tyres. You've got a high performance bike, plus a number of different variables such as weight, ambient temperature, road surface and riding style. It's quite possible that these tyres don't suit your riding style. To be fair, I'd say you are probably doing well with these tyres. Is the front wearing into a V shape? That's often a sign of someone braking into a turn.
Thanks for your comments and theories folks…….. but what I was really after was first hand feedback from others who have used the 021's.I've just found the following thread that provides info' on similar problems with the BT 020's..... http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7603 As far as I'm concerned I wont be in a hurry to use Bridgestone front tyres again.
