There is this corner that sneaks up on you on the rainbow Road if travelling north as i was its a couple of K befor the locked gate with the Cob house, its a tighten left handeron a slight rise that tightens up and if going just a tad bit too fast as i was it catches you out especially if you are distracted as I was by an object in the distance, i decided that I was'nt going to get around so released the brakes and applied power suddenly nope it isn't going to help so i went for the soft option that proved to be softer that anticipated and required the services of a four wheeled vehicle to tow me out backwards as the mud would not release me and the cameras came out, no harm done to man or beast, bit of a hose down and it was off to the Ralley in Alex.

very honest of you to own up Ross – looks like you were lucky! nice to know it's not just me who has such 'moments' – I had one in the gravel past the Makora Lakes as you head in Southland from Walter Peak Station on way to the Rally – front end washed out as I crossed the deep gravel in the middle of the road – instictively dabbed down and applied power – she came back up but like you I ended up running off the road into the berm as I was unwilling to apply brakes- cheers S 😀

I had a funny one today on the way to Raglan via Port Waikato. All of a sudden I heard a weird noise. Looking down I saw this no.8 wire wrapped around the front of the bike. I was in 5th gear at the time. This it I thought, the front wheel is going to lock up and I am going down. Luckily this did not happen and I managed to stop. I looked down and saw that the wire had gone over the front fender,  then I turned around and saw that I had been dragging a coil of wire stretching out to more than 10m behind me. I hadn't even seen the wire, as it was all brown and rusty and didn't stand out on a gravel road. That put a damper on things for the next few K,s.
