On my 2001 r1150gs (u.s. import) the rear brake isn't releasing fully. I've taken the caliper off and all looks fine, I can push the pots back in by hand and everything works until I use the rear brake again, when it doesn't release. When I press the foot pedal by hand only the forward pot moves – not sure if this is normal.  The clearances are OK, the fluid was changed about 2 months ago.My suspicion is that the return port in the master cylinder is getting blocked but I wondered if anyone out there had any other ideas? If I do go down the Master Cylinder overhaul route, is it worth just buying a new MC than rather than risk not getting all the (possible) junk out of the old one? - (US$65+P&P)

There are 2 caliper posts, one at each end. Separate the caliper halves and make sure the post is not rusted into the sleeve. They have rubber concertina boots to keep the water and dust out but mine failed at about 50000 km and the caliper wouldnt work properly. I had to get the lads at Experience to apply enough heat to get them apart. I pull them apart every 40k and grease the posts now.

Wow, that was quick, hardly had time for my tea.  Thanks, I'll have a look.
