    The weather didn't look good at all when we gathered at Westgate.  🙁It was more like solid rain than showers.Keen (or someone said mad  👿 ) 8 riders with 1 pillion left to the North, hoping that the weather will have cleared up by lunch time.But we didn't need to wait for that long for the dry weather.By the time we turned right to Old North Road from SH16, the rain stopped and road surface in the Riverhead was completely dry.In the end, we got wet only at Westgate in the morning.We stopped at Woodcocks road just before getting into SH1. The road is always interesting to ride but Linda complained about several 4WD on the road, as it ruined her riding.Image251.jpgUntidy parking... 🙄Image252.jpgPica boo!Image253.jpgImage254.jpgImage255.jpgWe had lunch at a cafe in Mangawai. You don't believe how sunny it was if you stayed in Auckland.I missed my sunnies  😎 and worried about getting sun burnt...Image256.jpgSunny MangawaiAlex and I decided to enjoy sunny north farther and we went up to Waipu while everyone else directly went back to Auckland.It was a nice "last ride" with Dean as area rep.  🙂Neko

    Sorry I didn't see you turn off Neko, I thought you might take a later exit. Thanks for writing this up and taking the time to photographer as well. Thanks for your time as Area Rep. The destination was excellent, something to keep in mind for future rides. This ride showed once again that you shouldn't be put off by a few drops of rain, or you'll miss out. All up we had less rain on this ride than we did on the one to Raglan. Thanks to a guy on a sports bike I got my tyres scrubbed in properly towards the end of the ride :-).

    It was a nice ride. It was like a summers day up north. No rain, not much traffic and good company. 😎

    I can't believe how hot it was at Mangawai. We shot down to the beach for a look and then joined Dean on the ride North through Waipu Cove and Waipu. I guessed we were behind Neko and Alex.Unfortunately we lost Dean in the winding bits when a firewood truck pulled out in front of us. We picked up SH 1 North of Waipu and headed back through the Brynderwyns hoping to find Neko or Alex but missed them as well. So we cruised back to Auckland. Auckland still had that dull look when we got back.  It was great to see three F800's together for a ride. I was also suprised by the number of bikes stoped in Waipu. So Dean, where did you go?I wish I'd stopped to take a pciture of the Rastafarian car painted in multicoloured stripes and Bob marley's face on the side in black. It's not a sight you see often.I'm looking forward to more rides.

    I thought you guys were heading straight back to Auckland, otherwise we would have waited. 3 F800s on a ride is pretty good, but I've been on one with over 20 F800 :-). How's that for one-upmanship? The next ride is to Paunaui. I have no idea where the lunch venue is. Hope to see you guys there.

    We had headed off with no specific destination in mind deciding to head down to the beach then go from there.  After bumping into to Dean we decided on Waipu etc. We're intending to make the Pauanui ride. So where is BP Papakura?

    BP Papakura is on the Southern motorway heading south about 2 ks past the Papakura off ramp.

    Hi Alex,The last time we went to Pauanui, we had lunch at the American Cafe if my memory serves me well.Very biker friendly (mind you they didnt have much choice as we totally arranged all the tables so we could all sit together) but they didnt mind.Paunui doesnt take very long to get there so if you like I can suggest some good routes along the back roads to fill in some time.

    Thanks Jim, I am always open to suggestions. As long as your roads aren't all dead straight and meet at right angles :-).

    Many thanks Dean for all the interesting rides and the work you put into making these enjoyable.Sue and I were sorry we couldn't join you to Mangawhai ( work is such a curse sometimes) Hope to catch up on future rides
