Hey Jim! Hey Steven “S”!When you were on Old North Road today near Riverhead Forest, did you see something like this?Yeah, it was me.You guys looked pretty fast, but I noticed you weren't waving to me. Is that the staunch BMW attitude coming through, or the distraction of the 35kph corner?I went to a track day at Taupo last Friday and had a GREAT DAY! At least, I was until the last lap of the last session. A friend who was there on his GSXR750 crashed on Turn 1, and it was pretty bad so they red-flagged the session (everyone come in). I saw the flag and was taking it easy around the lap, but picked up the pace because it was taking so long to get back! On the last big corner before the back straight I had it well leaned over and the front wheel gave way. The bike fell on top of me and I went sliding across the bitumen into the grass. Little or no damage to the bike, but some major bruising on the left side of the bod. Hoo!Another from the track. You might not see the sparks from the pegs, but they're there I promise.
Yep saw you Dave waving with one hand way up in the air cranked over !!!!!!!!! and I did give a wave back but was concentrating on the corner.I thought it was you but the other guys said it wasnt, but it looked like your style but they said it was an all black bike.Should go with my first impressions but we were passed pretty quick.Hope you are not too sore from your off.The charity run was the biggest I have seen so far and we missed out on the tee shirts and badges which was a bit of a disapointment but never mind they still got the donation.
Very impressive, Dave. Those track days seem to make a lot of difference. I must put some supermoto wheels on the R80 :-). Sorry to hear about the bruising, but they say you're not trying hard enough if you don't have the odd biff (track only). Is your bike a bit more black than usual?

My Bro-in-law on the Yamaha, two bikes after me, was well impressed with your speed and the dangling motard leg.

Nice counter-steer in the second pic. Good technique.

Yeah, but he's not smiling at the camera 😀

I notice that it looks like you're pushing the bike away from you judging by the bend in the arms. Also I hear the testing days are pretty cheap ($90 at Puke) with a handful of bikes out on the tracks.Did anyone have anything to say with you going down on the red due to riding fast? Great photo's though. They deserve a bit of captioning attention.
