Every now and then we come across these old abandoned buildings. They won't be around for much longer, yet each one has a story to tell. If you see one, take a photo and post them here.Steve has submitted this one, it is on SH5 Mamakus about 5kms west of Mamaku village roadThis is one I came accross recently a few kms out of Port Waikato. There was one shortly before Port Waikato, all covered in weeds must take a photo next time.
It looks like I am playing this game by myself. Oh well, I am having fun.
On my recent trip to the South Island I saw a lot of good ones. To my shame I must admit that I didn't stop for a photo. This proves that these houses can be quite elusive. The following two are from that trip, the top one is near Mangapehi and the bottom one is in Waimiha.
I know a few more around the Auckland area. However, on the next trip South I will stop more often.houses must be empty. no sky dishs
did ya like that road to waimiha. The road through Waimiha ist neat, have done it twice now.
Got three more today, may have to crop one a bit. Who knows where these houses are?
You been round taking pictures of my house Alex ?
The little one in the front? Sorry I didn’t pop in, but I could see that the curtains were drawn.
These are great. You guys we’ll need to get in on this as all the easy pickings will be gone soon 🙂
Hiwi Road
Paparata Road
Taharoa Road
I was too late for this one Alex !!!
Between Edgecumbe and MatataSaw this little beauty just outside Kaukapakapa on SH16. Had trouble getting out of the gravel on the side of the road but I think it was worth it.
Pokaka Supply Store and owners house. You can just make out the lettering on the signage. Note the window height on the store - this was so the horse and cart could pull up along side the building and load/unload supplies.
Old palaces from Pokaka and Taumarunui -
